48 Championship Basketball Drills
48 Championship Basketball Drills
by Marty Schupak
Many people have already voiced their opinions on this video. I have seen everything from the video is not good to it is wonderful. I decided to
find out for myself. This video by no means re-invents a basketball practice or introduces new drills.
However, the video does provide 48 drills that are useful in training the fundamentals
of basketball. I have always felt that as a coach one should look to expand their knowledge. This video does not really expand but remind
a coach of some of the basics from teaching a layup, free throw shooting, etc.
The drills are broken into categories including ball handling, shooting, rebounding, and defense. Each drill is prefaced by
a diagram. The action is quick. The 42 minute time frame makes it tough (don't forget you can always push "rewind"), so be ready to take quick notes. The end of the video offers 4 practice
plans. Two each for junior high and younger, and high school. Coach Schupak offers narration throughout the entire video. He explains each drill
concisely. One note. It is nice that he used young players for the video. Too many of today's videos show these big huge guys running the drills.
Coach Schupak was nice enough to use younger kids for the drill demonstrations.
If you are a beginning coach, buy it. This video will definitely help you out. The practiceplans at the end and the drills will
get you started. However, if you are an experienced coach, you might want to hold off on purchasing this one.
